Just Looking

The afternoon light was starting to fade, painting everything in a warm, gentle glow. We'd been still for a long time, just listening to the quiet hum of the bush. Then, he simply settled into view, a silent, powerful presence. He wasn't moving, just... existing. The sun, low in the sky, caught the edges of his mane, making it burn golden against the deep shadows behind him. He turned his head slowly, and his eyes met ours directly. No aggression, just a steady, calm watch. It felt like time itself paused, a quiet understanding passing between us. It's those direct gazes, out there in the vastness, that always humble me. They remind you of the deep connection we share with everything around us, even without a single word.
