The Stillness of Winter
By Winter Pond Reflection Photography

I found this pond on a quiet afternoon in a Tokyo park, when the cold air had chased most people indoors. The water was so calm it felt like a mirror, holding the bare trees and the pale blue sky in a perfect, silent embrace. I remember standing there for a long time, just watching the reflection, not even reaching for my camera at first. The only sound was the occasional rustle of a dry leaf skittering across the ice at the edges. There's something about winter that strips everything down to its bones. No leaves to hide behind, no birdsong to distract you. Just the honest shape of things. When I finally lifted my camera, I knew the shot was already there — I just had to be patient enough to see it. That stillness, I think, is what I'm always chasing. Not just in the frame, but in myself.
